10th jubilee of MSc Program Renewable Energy in Central & Eastern Europe

Founded in 2005, the postgraduate MSc Program Renewable Energy in Central & Eastern Europe celebrated - on February 11, 2015 - its 10th jubilee under the heading “Reunion breakfast”. Among the guests were students, alumni, lecturers, mentors, multipliers as well as representatives of the cooperation partner (Energiepark Bruck/Leitha and CEC/TU Vienna).

The jubilee was inaugurated by Univ.Prof.Dr.techn. Reinhard Haas (Academic Director, Renewable Energy in Central & Eastern Europe). After welcoming and a short review of the postgraduate MSc program, DI Karin Mottl, MSc (Managing Director, Association Energiepark Bruck/Leitha) gave an overview on the national and international importance of renewable energy.

Subsequently, the “Faculty Awards”, which were giving for the first time, were at the center of the jubilee. Univ.Prof.Dr. techn. Bob Martens, FRICS (Vice Director CEC) bestowed those lectures, who are teaching the longest and are regarded as particularly outstanding. In addition, Em.O.Univ.Prof.Dr.techn.Dr.h.c. Helmut Drobir (founding father), Univ.Prof.Dr.techn. Reinhard Haas (Academic Director), cooperation partner DI Karin Mottl, MSc as well as Mag. Petra Aigner (Managing Director CEC) were honored for their commitment.

After the awarding, the jubilee was all about the networking among the international alumni, f.e. the successful story of Samir Al-Wakeel, EMBA MSc (Alumnus class 2010-2012). After graduating the postgraduate MSc program in 2012 he set up the company “EnergyVision” - together with a colleague from the same cohort. The company focus is on consulting, planning respectively the implementation in the sector of renewable energy in the field of hydropower, wind and solar energy and biomass. This example illustrates both that the specialist content of the course as well as the exchange of experiences and social skills are significant. Furthermore, a preview of the upcoming alumni events was given, among others the scheduled workshop at the Expo 2015 in Milan.

The jubilee was successfully completed by networking activities. Students, alumni, lectures, and team members from the Energiepark Bruck/Leitha and CEC enjoyed the personal conversations at an exclusive breakfast.

The MSc program is a collaboration of the TU Vienna with the Energiepark Bruck/Leitha.

On October 15, 2015 the next postgraduate MSc Program Renewable Energy in Central & Eastern Europe for four semesters is starting.

The team of CEC/TU Vienna and Energiepark Bruck/Leitha is looking forward to further successful ten years.
