Why renewables are unstoppable

Why renewables are unstoppable – Roger Hackstock answered this question in our last Renewable Energy Talk on July 05, 2018. He supported his opening statement with recent statistics and data. The renewable energy sector, whether it is wind, solar or photovoltaic, grows exponentially each year. In 2013 the installation rate of plants for renewable energy went beyond the rate of non-renewables. Also the e-mobility sector has shown profound growth, and there is no end in sight. This development takes place on an international level as well. Europe lost its place as market leader to China. The Megatrends in the Energysector -  decarbonisation, decentralization, digitalization und demand response – are pushing the expansion of renewables and – according to Hackstock – make the energy transition unstoppable.

Roger Hackstock is Managing Director of Austria Solar and book author. In 2014 he published his book "Energiewende - the revolution has already started", in 2017 his second book "Flexible and free. How a comprehensive energy transition changes our lives." (both published in german).

The Renewable Energy Talks serve to discuss recent topics and trends in the renewable energy sector with experts in their respective fields. They also are great events for networking and getting to know fellow students and alumni of the MSc Renewable Energy Systems. More information on the upcoming Renewable Energy Talks can be found here.

The Renewable Energy Talks are part of the MSc program Renewable Energy Systems.
